Hey Guys welcome to another day of exploring the heart of God. I hope this article sings something to you that will stick forever. My hope is that these words stir up a fire in you heart to practice what God is turning our attention to.

As I approached to the writing this blog, God turned my attention to a breed of people who are suffering. Suffering from severe depression and pain. My mission here in this blog is to help us all reflect on whether we have been our brother’s keeper. It is human nature to tend to keep depression and pain hidden. Not much of us are willing to talk about these issues or mental health. We sweep it aside and pretend like everything’s okay. The more silence we cultivate among ourselves as people, the more people battle with depression and isolated pain.

As Christians we are well aware of the spiritual battle but right now I feel the Lord also wants to turn our attention to what happens in the physical.

The scriptures say;

Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

1 John 4:50

Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.

When God speaks it’s most times a reminder and that’s how we know that God is speaking because it’s already in Bible. Here we are reminded to love each other and not be weary in well doing.

One of the stellar qualities of Jesus Christ was that he showed so much compassion. The more we become compassionate of people in general, the more we will feel inclined to lending a helping hand or just comfort. The quickest way to feeling compassion is drawing closer to God in prayer.

There are many lonely and depressed hearts that just need human compassion. I know it’s easy to get fed of people, to get caught up with the ins and outs of life, to sink into self improvement to the point of selfishness. Sometimes we tend to overlook people, stereotype them with a group. Or we see an entire area or community and look beyond them with this one thought that avoids us from paying attention. Even though we can look at a group and label it as one thing. God looks down on the entire earth and he sees the “one” out of the thousands that may be okay; he then relentlessly chases after the one. If we have the ability to fight for the one everytime, we will have the ability to break ground.

The Lord wants to plead with hearts to just look over their shoulder for a minute to notice someone who is suffering in silence. I get it people don’t usually talk about these things. Just be present, start with the people around you. Mothers, fathers, children, uncles, aunts & close friends. A coworker. You may be surprised to know what five minutes of conversation or attention can do for someone.

Often times people even live in the same home with each other and not even notice the severe suffering. God is convicting someone to look over their shoulder to see their brother or sister who’s suffering.

If you’re facing something really difficult as you read this blog just remember that God sees you. The mere fact that I’m able to write this way for you to see is evident that you’re on the mind of a God who’s willing to go above and beyond to reach his people. Do not become a victim of isolation. Receive the helping hands around you. God places the lonely in families and he sees you. Find rest and comfort in his love. If you’re orphaned remember God is our father. He’s always there just waiting for us to notice him back.

Be your brother’s keeper! Respond to the call.
