Hello to my readers! Welcome welcome welcome to Maranatha blogs where we explore the heart of God for us. I’m just another sister gal exploring the grandeur of God and sharing his word through my practical life experiences. If this is the first time you’re ever hearing about Jesus Christ you’re also welcomed here.

According to Thomas Aquinas, a natural law philosopher, “The light of reason is placed by God in every man to guide him in his acts.”

I posit this question. Who’s in control? Who are we allowing to influence our daily lives? Who are we allowing to guide our hearts and minds? Are we overtaken by our way or God’s way? Let me share part of how my last weekend unraveled with you!

Last weekend I got on the road to drive and I’m a rookie road user. A million thoughts raced through my mind as I pulled out the parking lot. My father sat at the front to guide me along the way but ultimately I was holding the staring wheel. What if I crash? What if I suck at this? Will I ever overcome my fear of trucks. I felt my heart racing as I pulled out of the street. My mom and sister sat at the back of the car. Half way of the journey to our destination I’d acquired three instructors, boy was it quite the experience. I was the least experienced driver sitting in the car that day. My distinct recollection of this whole ordeal was the voice of my father saying “keep going we’re almost there. Not only did he say this once, twice or thrice he said it the whole way. He said it at every major intersection, when vehicles sped next to me, when vehicles had overtaken me, when I’d see the big trucks. I was behind the wheel. I’d finally arrived to my destination releasing a sigh of relief. It was the voice of my father that guided me to our destination with all the fear I’d mustered up in my heart. Ofc at this point I’d already blocked out the unofficial instructors in the back just so I can focus on the one voice that mattered in that moment. I had a choice to make. The one that I chose led me where I needed to be.

In the same way the wealth of what we experience depends clearly on our ability to listen to the voice of God. Our ability to shut out the surrounding noise to listen to God’s voice must be sharpened. The truth is God has given us free will and the last decision is left to us on whether we invite him into our lives or shut him out. So when we take a seat behind the staring wheel of our life, we decide. We decide whether we bring God in the front seat right next to us to take in his wise counsel, to take the steering wheel while shutting out the noise of the world. We decide whether we push him in the back seat of our lives and listen to the noise all around us. Something beautiful happens when we invite Jesus into our lives. Are you willing to open the door for God today?

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”
